We are on the ground in Eastern Europe preparing to meet the needs of vulnerable children and families who have been forcibly displaced due to the escalating crisis in Ukraine.  Vulnerable women and children will bear the brunt of this crisis.

ROMANIA

WV Romania has been responding to the initial needs of refugees upon their arrival from Ukraine, by providing safe, warm spaces for children to play while their papers are processed, and supporting existing shelters offering somewhere for families to stay.

• Supporting transit centers in Sighet, Siret and Isaccea with 173 heaters and 15 TVs
• Established two child play areas in Husi and Siret
• Supporting 4,800 people over the next 90 days transiting through Iasi with shelter, sanitation, transportation and protection programming, including anti-trafficking and PSEA awareness raising.

UKRAINE

From Romania, we have sent 3 shipments with more than 3.14MT (6,922lbs) of food assistance, bedding and hygiene supplies to hospitals in Chernivtsi who are serving displaced families.

MOLDOVA

Finalizing a needs assessment and partnership agreements with 4 NGOs (faith-based, local and international).

GEORGIA

A small refugee response is supporting 4,000 Ukrainians who were temporarily in the country when the conflict began. WV Georgia have led a needs assessment and music therapy sessions, as well as psychosocial sessions for 25 children.

PRE-POSITIONING ACTIVITIES

• Imported 15 CFS kits and shipping 68 MT of shelter and WASH NFIs (hygiene kits, blankets, tarps) from Dubai to reach 37,500 people staying in collective centers and hospitals throughout our operational areas
• Established two warehousing facilities in Bucharest and Suceava (Romania) and scoping warehousing facilities in Chisinau (Moldova) and Chernitvsi (Ukraine)
• 41 humanitarian staff from across World Vision have been mobilized to support the start and scale up of response operations with a flexible multi-country team including
