In the afternoon of Tuesday, September 19th, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.1 rocked Mexico City and the surrounding region, causing the collapse of dozens of buildings.

WORLD VISION’S RESPONSE

Staff are being deployed where possible to assist with debris removal and will coordinate with other response agencies to provide aid to the affected children and families.

World Vision is working with local authorities to provide a rapid and coordinated response to this crisis both in Mexico City and the surrounding area

World Vision has extensive development and humanitarian work in Mexico and was already responding to an 8.1 quake which struck Mexico’s Southern states on September 7th, which killed more than 90 people. World Vision has been working in Mexico since 1982 and currently has approximately 400 staff.
