HURRICANE MARIA

Less than two weeks after Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria has now hit numerous islands in the Caribbean.  It devastated Dominica and Puerto Rico, causing what the prime minister of Dominica called “mind-boggling” devastation in a region already heavily impacted by Hurricane Irma. Maria — the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in more than 80 years — destroyed hundreds of homes, knocked out power across the entire island, and triggered heavy flooding.

How is World Vision responding?

World Vision will be responding by equipping local partners in Puerto Rico to distribute emergency supplies to the affected areas. Supplies will include

  • Water and water filtration kits
  • Food
  • Hygiene kits with soap, shampoo, and diapers
  • Household supplies
  • Generators
  • Tarps
  • Bedding, etc.
