Treadle Pumps: Connecting People and Water

Raggie lives with his wife and six children in a rural village in Zambia. He and his wife work hard to provide for their family, nurturing a garden that provides enough for their family plus a small amount left over for trade. Despite their efforts it's not enough to meet their family's basic needs, including paying for their children's school fees. Their biggest obstacle? The ability to transport enough water by bucket to expand their garden.

Then the gift of a treadle pump changed their lives forever. When they received a water pump from World VIsion, Raggie's garden flourished thanks to the sufficient water supply. Within 3 months Raggie's garden produced over 1000 heads of cabbage from his usual 300 heads. That's more than triple the previous yield!
