Every day, nearly 1,000 children under 5 die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices.
YOU can change that by starting your own fundraiser for clean water.
You can help children like Claris, who is 6 years old and has to fetch water twice a day. She carries heavy buckets filled to the top, which is very difficult for her petite frame. She gets sick from drinking the dirty water, but she has no other option since there aren’t any water taps nearby. There are 768 million people in the world like little Claris that lack access to clean water.
World Vision believes that God created and loves every child in the world, and that each one deserves access to life's basics — including clean, life–giving water. Every day, nearly 1,000 children younger than 5 die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices. These deaths are preventable through access to clean water.
We are the largest nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world, reaching one new person with clean water every 30 seconds. We have committed to expanding our programs to reach one new person every 10 seconds by 2020. The donations you receive through your fundraising campaign will help us meet that goal through the following efforts:
Drilling, developing, and repairing wells and other vital water points
Teaching local people how to keep water flowing
Overseeing the building of latrines and hand–washing facilities
Providing training in healthy hygiene practices
